About Greenway Horse Farm

Located in the area known as Monrovia in Orange County, Virginia the original (center section) of the home was built ca. 1734 at another site on the property and was known as "Whitehouse." It was rolled to the current site in the 1800's on logs using teams. The Federal 2-story addition was built ca.1838. That is when it became known as Greenway. The final section was added in 1995. The farm was owned by the Brockman family or descendants until the late 1900's.The original kitchen known as "the dependancy" was in a separate building which has just been restored. There was no kitchen inside the main house until the 1940's. The house has a wonderful curved staircase and many unique features. It is featured in a book (a new edition is in the works) by Ann Miller called "Antebellum Orange." The Yates family owns 34 acres of the farm along with the original house and several newer structures including a large horse barn with accommodations for both large and mini horses. A stocked pond is also part of the property. We have lovingly restored much of the property and feel incredibly fortunate to be the "keepers" of Greenway.
